Psocid

Psocids are frequently referred to as booklice (if indoors) and barklice (when outdoors). However, these common names are misleading by suggesting that psocids might be blood-sucking pests. Psocids are scavengers that feed on decaying organic matter, molds and mildew. They are frequently abundant in humid climates and damp locations. Thus, large populations found in or near the home usually indicate an underlying mold or moisture problem. The presence of psocids is merely a nuisance because the pests do not harm humans or pets and they do not destroy products that are not already compromised.
